We are based in the UK and hope to make connections with other Welcomers and Accueillants around the world, or those who have worked in similar projects in the past.
An interest in Françoise Dolto’s Maison Verte has recently begun to emerge in the UK with the creation of several Maison Verte style projects in recent years. However, there is still very little translated into English of Dolto’s work and very few articles in English about the work of Welcoming.
We hope to create a place where we can share ideas and reflections on our work and stay connected as practitioners. In particular, we want to think about the place of our reception centres in contemporary society and to consider questions around anonymity, safeguarding and contemporary families.
The aims of the Welcomers Project are:
- to connect Welcomers around the world
- to support the desire for our spaces to exist in contemporary societies
- to promote discussion, study and writing about our projects and work towards publishing some writing on the work of Welcoming
Françoise Dolto and her colleagues gave the idea of the Maison Verte to everyone. Each project is its own, operates as a singularity, experiments differently and finds its own way within a collective desire for these spaces to exist.
This is a meeting place, a space for the proliferation of thought, and not a place of homogenisation.
Please get in touch with any suggestions, additions, or projects you would like to contribute to the project.
We look forward to welcoming the Welcomers!
